I didn't really believe the inshore waters forecast this morning (NW 2-3 backing SW 4 to 5 for a time) but nevertheless got all the chores done by 12.00. Then nothing seemed to happen. I checked the wind direction at Chimet and eventually it swung round to WSW but still nothing in the way of strength. At 2.30 I noticed quite a bit of wind around the north downs eyrie that I call home. A quick check on the Pagham wind line (gusting up to 19 knots and whitecaps on the water) and I was in the car by 3.00 and at the beach at 4.00. A mega quick rig and I had a good hour on a 5.5, well stacked. About 5.15 it clouded over and the wind dropped a touch. Then lightening, then thunder. I was a bit nervous of sailing in a storm so headed for the beach. Then the wind died and the rain came.

So, short but oh so sweet. Only 3 * 'cos so short. Sod it, 4 * because it was such a bonus and the conditions were ace while they lasted.
